Kyrgyzstan Visa

********UPDATE - TURNS OUT THAT KYRGYZSTAN HAS NOW CHANGED THEIR TOURIST VISA REQUIREMENTS. CHECK OUT YOUR OWN GOVERNMENT’S INFO ON THIS AS I’M PRETTY SURE YOU NO LONGER NEED A VISA.*********

We waited until we got to Dushanbe, Tajikistan to get our Kyrgyzstan visas as we weren’t sure about dates etc… This turned out to be a very quick and easy visa to get. We turned up at the embassy at 9.50am, no chaos, no other people queueing, very friendly staff, nice air conditioned office. There were two members of staff there. One guy and the lady actually processing the visas. We were lucky as the guy had lived in England and was a very friendly chap. So friendly, that he managed to convince the lady to give us the express visas service (usually at double the cost of the normal slow, 4-5 day service) for no extra charge!

Kyrgyz Embassy, Dushanbe, Tajikistan

Open from 10am Tuesdays and Thursdays for visas.

$90 for one 90 days single entry visa for British passport holders. I’m pretty sure the cost is the same for any EU passport holder too. We decided to get the 90 day visa to give us loads of time to explore the country and not have to worry about sorting out extensions. We also need a bit of extra time when we get to Bishkek to sort out our China visas.

Take copies of your passport photo page as well as your Tajik visa and two passport photos. They’ll provide the application forms.

As with many other visas applications you have to go to a near-by bank to pay in the money. We took our crisp $ bills to a bank about 15 minute walk down the road and were back at the embassy within the hour. To get to the bank walk from the embassy back to Rudaki and turn left. Walk down the hill for maybe 10 – 15 minutes and it’s on your right.

What a handsome bank
